BANGKOK TO PHUKET

This was my first time overseas & even with 30 hours of travel time, coming from Houston, I would go back to Thailand with Affordable World over and over again! Thailand is such a beautiful country with so much to offer! Not to mention, our tour guide, Oh, was the best ever! She was very informative and super helpful the entire time!! Breathtaking beaches, floating markets, gorgeous temples, monkeys, elephants, and so much more!

Disregard everything you read from other sites about the airline and Affordable World. Affordable World definitely prepares you for everything, just make sure you read what is provided if not it is okay because Alice kept my group of 6 on track from the time she picked us up from the airport until we departed at the airport. Our group flew China Eastern - the ride is long so get over that but the seats are comfortable enough. The food was not what I would prefer and they do not serve spirits so bring snacks to get you through the long travel. Try to get to the airport early to get a window seat and if traveling with a group, make sure the ticket agent give you seats together when you check-in. The itinerary in Bangkok is full and your pretty much left to your devices in Phuket. The hotels are amazing, don't worry and the bed sizes are suitable for all situations. The people in Thailand are beyond the nicest human beings on the planet. The food is affordable (hint hint) and delicious; you will get tired of Thai food after the 3rd/4th day and you'll be able to find other varieties. As far as excursions, definitely go on the ones included in the package, you will learn so much about Thai history and people. In Bangkok definitely do an Elephant Sanctuary. And in Phuket, Phi Phi Island is a must see. Take your tour guide up on the Thai massage in Bangkok. Finally! Alice, our AW tour guide was amazing. She was organized, punctual, and personable. She knew everyone from our group (including other groups), she was attentive, and provided great recommendations. She was patient and her English was better than most Americans; she was a joy to have around. AW thank you for hiring and training Alice, she is what the company should aim to replicate. Alice and Sharky are a great pair, they made a great team!

I went for my 30th birthday in june 2018 and i absolutely recommend it!!! You wont regret it totally worth your money. I had the best tour guide her name is”Kitty” and she is just the funniest most fun tour guide ever. She will make u laugh from start to end. The tours were amazing my favorite which I believe is not included and can be purchased separately is called John Grey!!! You will love love it you cannot miss going there. The elephant sanctuary was one of my favorites too. The phi phi Island was nice too but its an hour away in a speed boat which alot got motion sickness bad so make sure to bring your pills. The food was great at the hotel its a buffet. The tour guides are just awesome they will help you with anything you need its just great you meet new people. I have nothing but great things to say about my trip to thailand so worth my money and its super cheap in thailand too even better!!! Rember to pack light clothes it is crazy humid .We had maybe one day where it poured like crazy but other than that i cant imagine going in summer time plus on top of that the high humidity. Hope you take the trip I promise you will absolutely love it!!!! And hope your tour guide is Kitty she Rocks!!!!

A positive review is all I'd wish to give because Thailand was really pretty and a lot of fun. Our tour guide was amazing, and it was feeling like I must have bought a personal tour. So, that was a win win. Also Alice and Patty our guides had a beautiful personality and an openness that made me feel safe through out the entire trip. People in this country make money from our tourist dollars, but it was there culture that needed to be respected. So, knowing how much money to spend made me very thankful that I was not insulting any of the locals, taxi drivers, cleaning people, room service etc. Thank you very much! Khaawp Khun Khrap.

First, let me state that Thailand is a beautiful country with the most amazing and sweet people. The itinerary was jam-packed with things to do and places to see and Sharkie, our tour guide, went above and beyond to ensure that our group of almost 40 people were happy in every aspect. The hotels that my husband and I stayed in were beautiful, the food was inexpensive and delicious (literally 2-3 US dollars). I would 100% recommend this tour and if you get Sharkie you will definitely not regret it. If there is anything that you want to do in Thailand outside of the itinerary just ask your tour guide, they will give you recommendations and make sure that you get your money's worth. Will definitely be doing another tour with Affordable World.

We did the 10 day Bangkok and Phuket tour in December and it was great! We booked through Groupon and we were so impressed with everything. The transportation was nice, the hotels were great - clean, good WiFi connection, great food and amenities. Our tour guide, Oh, was the best. She went above and beyond to make sure we had the best time and everything we needed including booking extra transportation and tours/events. The elephant sanctuary is a must. It was so fun to feed and wash these gentle giants. The floating market was really cool and we ate some of the best food there. The beaches and boat tours in Phuket were unreal. So pretty and nice. The weather in December was great too. Hot but not too bad! We extended our trip and did some exploring on our own and Affordable World was really easy to work with for our trip extension. I would highly recommend this company and trip!

First time using Affordable World and I will definitely use them again! We got more than we expected. The hotel accommodations in Bangkok and Phuket were upscale, great locations and clean. The meals that were included were buffet style and provided much variety, the excursions were once in a lifetime experiences I'll never forget and enjoyable. I absolutely loved our tour guides, Kitty and Panda. They were both extremely knowledgable, friendly and accommodating. I'm telling everyone I know about this trip and Affordable World ! Job well done!

I just wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time in your country. Much to see and do and enjoy. We loved the elephants, boat rides and other memorable exursions. We will be coming back to visit again someday. I also would like to mention that our tour guides were worth mentioning. Pa was a very proffesional, knowledgeable and funny guide. Easy to understand and follow. He spared nothing to give us what we wanted, a great and fabulous vacation. Creating very many beutifull memories. I do wish that next time we have Pa again. He was like the cherry atop a hot fudge sunday. Happy happy smile smile!!!

What an amazing and inexpensive trip! Audi was our guide and it was like having our own personal assistant. We didn't have to think about anything, just show up in the lobby of the hotel bringing what he told us we would need, and off we went! We saw and did everything! Elephant rides, floating market, monkeys, bamboo river ride, temples, buddhas etc. Then met in lobby once again and off we were to Phuket. Again we didn't have to think about taxi, transfers, what time to leave to get to airport, how we were going to get from airport to hotel in Phuket. He did all of the thinking! Was also an excellent resource for anything and everything you needed to know about Thailand. What restaurant to go to in Chinatown, how much tuk tuk's should cost, where to buy the best souvenirs, and what to bring to all of our excursions. You can't beat the price of the excursions and all include lunch. Best way to see so much of the country. We did not purchase trip through Groupon. We went through Affordable World so we could book our flights separately. It just worked out better for times of flights to fly with Cathay Pacific and had better arrival times to Bangkok instead of arriving in the middle of the night. Highly recommend this trip and hope that you get a great guide like we did!

Overall my experience with this package and Affordable World was positive! I would recommend anyone doing one of their packages thoroughly review the excursions and hotels offered. Purchased through Groupon for $1999/pp before optional tours. Hotels: Both Pullman G Hotel and Novatel Kamala Beach were fantastic, Pullman had an amazing breakfast spread with variety every morning and was very comfortable. The location was on Silom road and was a great location from the sky train which took you around the city, a quick tuk tuk from the park and a night market. Amenities and entertainment were all available on one road. Novatel had excellent service and while the location was a bit out of the way from Patong, it made for a relaxing stay and they provided daily shuttles to and from Patong Beach. Again, fantastic amenities and beautiful quiet beachfront location. Flights- Be prepared for awkward and less convenient travel times, regardless of the flight times and layovers, it was still worth the value. Air China was a great airline and we were lucky to not have any issues. Bangkok- (3 Days) After flying on Wednesday and Thursday we arrived at the hotel around 2am Friday morning. It was nice to have the first day planned out with temple visits, lunch and transportation. We took an optional tour the second day including the summer palace, Ayutthaya and a lunch cruise down the Cho Praya river through the city. Highly recommend! Phuket- (5 Days) The travel day to Phuket wasn’t bad, we left early, had to wait 2 hours at the airport and when we landed the bus took us on the “city tour” which was more informational with one stop at an ocean viewpoint. We only did one excursion in Phuket which was the Phi Phi Island tour which I would highly recommend for its value. It included transport, snorkeling, lunch, island hoping and some sights from the boat. It was a long day that was hustled about but the last beach we were able to just relax on the beach for over an hour. Phuket was great for relaxation! We did hear bad things about the bamboo rafting, elephant trekking and tiger kingdom. I do not recommend the animal excursions because no one felt the animals were well kept and the tigers were visibly sedated. Hopefully you are not okay with paying money to sedate tigers for a photo. I recommend Tri Trang beach, you can play with two elephants for $700 Baht /pp they do not have chains or scars and no one pokes them with sticks. I would do another Affordable World trip again!

BANGKOK TO PHUKET

I took this trip in October 2016 with my husband and we had an amazing time! This was my first time going on a guided trip and my first time going with Affordable World. Our guide, P.A. went above and beyond my expectations of a guide. He was extremely knowledgeable, organized, funny and had our best interest in mind the whole time. He really cared about our experience and did everything he could to make sure we were always having a great time, which we were! I can't imagine having done this trip with any other guide. Our group was also unusually small with there being only 11 of us. I would recommend smaller groups like this for all trips. Getting around was easy and we didn't have to wait on people. My group was amazing! We all got along and hung out outside of excursions. Having such a great group made this trip really memorable and fun. My favorite excursion was the elephant ride and floating market. The elephant camp was a great experience and I'm so happy this was an option. My least favorite excursion was the first night dinner and show. The food wasn't that good and the show was just ok. Having more time at that night market would be great. I highly recommend this trip and I highly recommend P.A. as a guide!

My husband surprised me with this vacation for my birthday and I could not have asked for a better trip time and experience. Our tour guide P.A was absolutely amazing and made the experience even better. He was very knowledgeable and has a great personality always willing to help and always there for you with whatever you need. Even on days that we had no tours planned he went out of his way to find things for us to do and even take us around town. Our group was small and everyone was so great. I think having a small group made the whole experience that much better and based on sities I've heard things can get out of hand when groups are big so small groups are the best bet to enjoy your time. It made all the difference in my experience and trip.

This trip was amazing, we had a really great guide. Her name is Panda, she was the best. Very helpful, informative and always made sure everyone got to see what they wanted to see. Most of the people in our group were 20-35 years old and we made really great friends. The hotels were all very nice and activities were fun. In Bangkok the best activity we did was the elephant, floating marketing and bamboo rafting day, the rest were temple tours and not as exciting as the elephant day. In Phuket we went to the Phi Phi islands on our own and it was very easy and much cheaper than the tour organized excursion. All of the meals and hotels were really nice. I would recommend this to anyone! We also did Japan through Affordable World and it was just as great. Thailand is easy to navigate on your own but a taking a tour our first time there made it much easier as everything was taken care of. Make sure in Bangkok that women have a long solid wrap/skirt for temple tours.

Wow! My boyfriend & I took this trip April 26- May 6, 2016 & we had an AMAZING time! I can't believe how much was packed into the trip & what a great value it was! Hats off to Affordable World for putting together such a fabulous trip! Our guides (Sharkey & P.A.) were top-notch: informative, gracious, fun & funny with wonderful customer service skills. They definitely went above and beyond expectations which made the trip effortless & enjoyable. All of the logistics, translations and cultural customs were taken care of so we could relax & have fun. They were dedicated and tireless workers with a passion for their country. Plus, they were absolutely DELIGHTFUL!! There will always be a warm place in my heart for P.A., especially. His personality is adorable, his English is impeccable, and he is so knowledgeable, efficient, and gracious. He is everything you would want in a tour guide. His keen understanding of the western mind informed his clear communication of directions, times, explanations, etc. I also felt as though I was well-cared for by Sharkey, but he could improve by communicating more complete details prior to excursions to soothe the western mind & our love of structure. With Sharkey I felt like an invisible hand of God was watching over me and effortlessly guiding me. He was magically always present whenever I would have needed him (but didn't expect him) and he seemed to miraculously take care of all the details. We did every optional tour (except the dinner/dance show in Bangkok) & every tour kept getting better & better! At the end of each day we couldn't believe how much we did & saw. All of the temples are beautiful beyond imagination (& I'm comparing to Paris, Venice & Barcelona). The Thai people are wonderful: very polite, warm, moral and many speak English. The culture is rich, unique & exotic. And the geography is GORGEOUS (crystal clear water, amazing limestone islands, beautiful, soft white sand beaches & tropical foliage). And, of course the animals were unforgettable we saw/interacted with monkeys, elephants, lemurs, and snakes (optional) on our tours. We also went on our own to see the tigers in Phuket. I'm an animal person & usually feel saddened and outraged by how wild animals are treated in captivity, but all the animals I saw seemed well cared for and robust. The only thing I would change, if I could, is the weather. Of course, Affordable World can't fix that. It was VERY hot and humid for us (we live near San Francisco) to adjust to. We've each been to Hawaii and Mexico many times & nothing comes close to the heat we felt in Thailand! I would recommend checking the weather for the season you're planning on visiting. One nice aspect of the excursions is that almost all of them had boat rides and water attractions built into the day which helped cool-things-down. (Landmark of Bangkok, floating market/elephant trekking, James Bond island, & Phi Phi island). This was our first entire tour-guided trip & we both think it is the BEST way to travel. We are already looking forward to our next trip with Affordable World!

Overall I think we got what we paid for. It was a reasonably cheap expense for a reasonably weak service. Upon arrival, myself and my travel partner were overbooked for our initially selected tour guide in Bangkok, so we were added to another group led by Sharky, who did a great job. However, this added to the confusion when we left for Phuket because while we were handed off to a local tour guide, it was very confusing for everyone when we tried to coordinate additional optional tours (because none of the Affordable World tour guides were familiar with the local). The local guide, JJ, did not return our phone calls when our plans were weathered out, and never got back to me about a fishing trip on my days off which I had planned on for a while. The vehicles used to transport people were small vans, very crammed, and several people would get car sick due to limited visibility outside. Also, on the final day, no one from any of the tour guides informed us that we needed to have all of our bags packed up and checked out of our room by 0730. We arrived at the lobby for the days tour only to turn around and be rushed to pack up our entire room because the rest of the group was waiting on us (they received timeline notifications, we did not because they screwed up our room numbering). The final hotel in Phuket, The Novotel, has a shuttle service that was heavily advertised by Affordable World but they neglected to mention that it only shuttled three times a day and you had to reserve seating ahead of time and was often booked up (which defeats the purpose of having such a service). We got what we paid for, but will likely do it ourselves next time.
