WALKING
Our Itineraries include city tours and these involve a decent amount of walking. Be prepared for many steps, uneven pavement, walking up steep inclines, and tight spaces (especially in Machu Picchu and other historic sites) – comfortable walking shoes with grip are strongly recommended.

ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENT

Peru’s electrical system operates at 220 volts, so a converter is needed to operate a normal 110-volt American appliance. Electrical appliances will also require an adapter that can change the shape of the plug prongs. It is recommended travelers bring their own voltage converter and adapter. There are three associated plug types, A, B and C. Plug type A is the plug which has two flat parallel pins, plug type B has two flat parallel pins and a grounding pin and type C has two round pins.

TIME DIFFERENCE

The time difference between major cities in North America and Peru are as below:

  • Los Angeles + 2 hours
  • New York - 1 hours

Certain meals are included in Peru as per the itinerary. We regret to inform you that Affordable World is unable to confirm any special meal request as it is based on the availability of the providing restaurants, hotels, and airlines. Unused services, including optional tours are non-refundable.

CLIMATE & CLOTHING:

Peru being such a geographically diverse country within the tropical belt, the weather in Peru is determined both by altitude and season. However, it also means that there is almost invariably sunshine somewhere in Peru!
Central and Southern Regions (Lima): Two well-defined seasons, winter between April to October, Summer between November to March.
Highlands (Cusco): Two seasons, dry season between April to October, and rainy season between November to March.

Clothing

Please check www.weather.com for more detailed weather conditions closer to your departure date. It is recommended to bring a comfortable pair of walking shoes and casual clothing in natural, breathable fabrics. Temperatures will change as altitudes and time of day change, so it’s best to bring shorts as well as long trousers and clothing you can layer. It is also suggested to bring sunglasses, sunscreen, light hats, lightweight raincoat or poncho and mosquito repellent. Visitors are not advised to wear sleeve shirts, shorts, short skirts or short clothing when visiting religious temples or official buildings.
