Tokyo

You are meeting the tour guide in the hotel lobby at 8:45 am after breakfast. Our day begins with a visit to the Imperial Palace Plaza -the current residence of Japan’s Imperial Family. The tour will proceed to Asakusa district where the most famous Buddhist temple Senso-ji is located. Walk along the famous 820-ft long Nakamise shopping street that is the front entrance to the Senso-ji Temple where you can explore the lines of stalls selling different Japanese-styled goods and souvenirs. Nothing else can capture the epitome of an upscale area in Tokyo better than the next locale – the Ginza district – where numerous department stores, boutiques, restaurants and coffeehouses are located. Reputed to be the most luxurious shopping district in the world, it is here that you can be awed by the flagship stores of leading fashion houses and brands before the bus transport returns to take us back to the hotel. You may also stay and wander in the Ginza district and return to the hotel on your own accord. In the evening, experience Japanese tradition & cuisine by enjoying the optional Japanese Kaiseki Dinner. Kaiseki is a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner which balances the taste, texture, appearance, and colors of food. Only fresh seasonal ingredients are used and are prepared in ways that aim to enhance their flavor. Dishes are also beautifully arranged and garnished.

JAPAN HIGHLIGHTS

My wife and I did the 9 day Japan Highlights Tour and it was an incredible trip! Our tour guide Izumi was the best, she allowed us to stop and check out cool little shops, or telling us about the types of foods we should eat in certain cities and just being enthusiastic about telling us all about the history and culture of Japan was something we won't forget. The food was amazing, the people were beyond friendly and helpful (my wife and I got turned around in a subway system a few times and the people went above and beyond to help us get to where we were going), our group we were with were all very nice and had some fun nights just hanging out with them and exploring the city together, just overall an amazing time! The only thing I wasn't completely happy with was the hotel in Osaka (we found the beds to be pretty firm) but a seriously minor thing compared to the whole trip. Would recommend to anyone who is thinking about going to Japan.

JAPAN HIGHLIGHTS

We took the 9-day trip to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. The trip seemed too good to be true, as the best deal I could find on airfare was almost the same as the entire trip with Affordable which includes airfare and hotel. The trip was amazing! Everything promised and more! Hotels were fantastic!!! Our tour guide Kyoto Matsumoto was great!!! She was so concerned that everyone had the best time. She speaks perfect English and was very knowledgeable in all aspects of Japan not just the sites we visited. Food was great, and breakfast and some lunch was included. We loved it! Definitely 5 stars. Thank you Affordable Travel for giving me this experience with my 2 kids. They said it was the best trip we have EVER taken, and we have been a lot of places!

JAPAN HIGHLIGHTS

I recently got back from the trip, my family and I purchased the land package so I cannot speak on the air travel part. Once in Japan the tour itself was a blast and I'm sure this post will be long because I cannot stop gushing about this incredible trip. Our tour guide was Hiroshi and he was extremely kind, knowledgeable and very helpful. He kept the tour entertaining with his knowledge of the historical sites and teaching us basic Japanese words and customs. I was impressed with all the accommodations, meals, additional things I learned. My only suggestion would be to add an optional tour/event to replace the bus ride from Mt. Fuji to Kyoto with a bullet train experience. I would have gladly paid extra to ride it, cut the travel time and get to be in Kyoto longer. My family and I stayed a week longer visiting relatives and traveled this way after the tour and highly suggest it be an added option to get more time in Kyoto and experience the awesome bullet train. I did not do either of the dinners that were offered but I did do all of the optional tours/day trips (Yokohama/Kamakura, Bamboo Forest in Kyoto, Nara) and would highly recommend all three, incredible great Buddha's as well as chances to interact with animals like Deer (I recommend going to the Monkey Park in Kyoto by staying behind after your day in the bamboo forest) Hiro was an amazing guide and I'm so glad he showed me around on my first visit, I cannot wait to go back. I absolutely love Japan for its beauty and cleanliness which is seriously impressive and it's people for their kindness and generosity. Also I was a bit apprehensive about doing a tour but it ended up being the best decision and pretty awesome meeting other adventurous people, I cannot recommend this trip enough and I can't wait to book future excursions with Affordable World.

Could not have asked for a better experience. The trip was very busy with many places to see. Well coordinated, smooth trip. Our tour guide, Hiroshi, did a wonderful job. He taught us much more about Japan and its history and culture than I thought we would. He was extremely nice and very helpful with anything questions we asked him. Hotels were all nice. We saw a lot in the days we were there, and had plenty of time at each location. Was very pleased with the trip.

JAPAN HIGHLIGHTS

This was an outstanding vacation to Japan full of unforgettable experiences. This is one not to miss especially to Tokyo, Mount Fuji Kyoto and Osaka with worthy value optional tours for the kaiseki dinner,Yokohama and Kamakura day trip, Sagano Bamboo forest, Gion entertainment, and Nara Park/fish market. Only regrets is not having more free time especially since we all have shopping black belts from the states. Kudos to Affordable World for our first but not the last vacations with them. We could not have come close to seeing the sites in the same amount of days to include transportation, accommodations and opportunities for meals. A special call out to our tour guide Ichihiro for his outstanding execution to optimize out opportunities to experience Japan.

JAPAN HIGHLIGHTS

Initially I had fairly low expectations since the price is not overly expensive. But I was pleasantly surprised! The tour is well organized. It took us to major sight seeing spots and shopping districts. The tour guy is very nice and helpful. His English is not perfectly fluent and sometime he needs time to think of the word/sentences but he can definitely communicate effectively. I also love how they have free days so you can explore the area on your own. All of the hotels are wonderful with decent size room and very clean. Overall an amazing tour with an awesome tour guide. It does get a bit tiring at the end since there are a lot of walking but definitely worth it! Would 100% recommend anyone who is looking for a good Japan tour. The only regret I have is I can't spend more time there.

JAPAN HIGHLIGHTS

We absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED this tour!!! I was stunned at the hotels that this tour placed us in. They were top notch hotels, including the Westin in Kyoto (where President Obama stayed as well during his trip to Japan). The coach was extremely comfortable and air conditioned. The optional tours offered were AMAZING and were definitely the most popular sites of the main cities; the time allotted for you to explore is sufficient. We LOVED our English Tour Guide Satake. He was SO GOOD at his job. During our bus rides he gave interesting facts and we enjoyed his sense of humor. He was an excellent tour guide and such a kind gentleman. We also LOVED our bus drive Nakasuji. He also was the most genuinely sweet gentleman we have ever met. The only thing I would recommend for anyone traveling with this tour is to take at least one extra day in Tokyo. My husband and I arrived a day and a half before the tour started to explore Tokyo on our own because we saw that the tour only spends one full day in Tokyo. However I looked at next year's package and it looks like they are allotting an extra day in Tokyo but taking a day out of Osaka, so you would only spend one day in Osaka. If this is so, extend your time in Osaka by at least a day! I already recommended this tour to everyone that has asked me about my trip because I would HIGHLY recommend anyone interested in traveling to Japan! We are 100% satisfied and so grateful to this experience! Thank you Affordable World! :)
