Enjoy breakfast before a morning sightseeing tour of Athens.  Learn about Athens’ long history from your guide as you see the Parliament Building and Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Syntagma Square, and tick through highlights including Hadrian’s Arch, the Temple of Zeus and the Panathenaic Stadium, the stage for the first modern Olympics in 1896. Ascend to the UNESCO-listed Acropolis to admire its glorious temples, including the double gatehouse of the Propylaea, Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and spectacular Parthenon. Your tour also includes a visit to the New Acropolis Museum, home to archeological treasures discovered at the Acropolis site. Admire the statues and artifacts as you learn how the Acropolis served as the hub of Greek civilization from the 5th century BC. 

Afterwards, enjoy the afternoon free at leisure or join our optional tour to Cape Sounion, a high promontory crowned by the stunning Temple of Poseidon. This awe-inspiring ruin dates from the 5th century BC and affords incredible views over the Aegean Sea.

After an early breakfast, transfer to Athens’ port for a ferry ride* to the Cyclades island of Mykonos (ferry ride is approximately 5 hours.. Relax as your ferry glides over the Aegean Sea and savor views of the windmill-dotted island as you approach Mykonos. Alternatively, make the most of your time and choose the option to take a quick flight to Mykonos (flight time from Athens is approximately 50 minutes). 

Upon arrival check in to your Mykonos hotel for a 3-night stay.  Perhaps take your comfort to the next level and upgrade to the luxurious Petasos Beach Resort and Spa. Following check in, embark on a walking tour of Mykonos, strolling along the lanes crowded with shimmering white houses, trendy boutiques and art shops.  Spend the rest of the day at leisure to unwind in the sunshine.

Today is free for you to enjoy on your own or visit one of the most important archaeological sites of Greece on our optional tour to the ancient sacred island of Delos.

Only a  45-minute boat ride away from Mykonos, Delos was the center of the Cyclades of the ancient world, the island of light, birthplace of Apollo and Artemis, home to the first multicultural civilization and trade. Having been inhabited between 2500 and 69 B.C., Delos boasts of many treasures remaining from these times like the ancient marketplace Agora, the famous terrace of the Naxos lions, the holy lake, the ancients living quarters and theater that give you a lively vision of the daily life then. The houses of Dionysos, Kleopatra, the Trident, the Masks, and the Dolphins are a fantastic experience of art not to be missed.

Today heralds a full day of leisure in Mykonos.  Explore the island at your own pace and explore the town’s maze-like alleyways. Admire the white-painted houses with their colorful doors, balconies, and bougainvillea; view the traditional windmills and churches, and watch for the town’s mascot—Petros—the beloved real-life pelican that struts freely around the streets and harborside. Later, perhaps dip into Mykonos’ vibrant nightlife with drinks or dinner at the waterfront taverns and bars of the Little Venice Quarter.

Enjoy the morning free at leisure until your transfer to Mykonos’ port for your ferry back to Athens. On arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the evening in Greece’s charming capital as you wish — the perfect finale to your trip.
