FAQs - Before your trip
- You may add optional tours to your reservation during the booking process or to an existing reservation up to 7 days prior to the trip departure date. Optional tours (except Forbidden City and Kaiseki Dinner) may also be purchased on site – the cost will be $10 more per person for each optional tour purchased on site.
- Hotel, ferry, flight upgrades, late checkout and early check-in may be added up to 35 days prior to the departure date.
- Hotel, ferry and flight upgrades are non-refundable after a reservation has been paid in full
- To add optional tours, upgrades and late checkout to your existing reservation, please login to your My Affordable account, locate your trip under the “Upcoming Trip” section, and click on the “Add Tours & Upgrades ” button to add tours, upgrades and other services to your trip.
You may cancel optional tours from your reservation up to 7 days prior to the trip departure date however, a $15 per person service fee will apply for optional tours cancelled after the full payment on a reservation has been made.
Sorry but any unused tour feature including but not limited to optional tours, services and hotel accommodations are non-refundable, non-transferable, or exchangeable.
The visa requirements for your trip will vary based on the passport you are holding and where you are travelling to. As a general rule, most countries require your passport to be valid for at least 6 months after your scheduled return date to the U.S. While we update the visa requirement information as often as possible, we always recommend all travellers to check with their local consulate for the most up to date information as visa requirements can change without warning. Please visit the Visa/Passport section in our info centre to view more details regarding the visa requirements of the country you will be visiting on your trip. Non-US passport holders must consult the relevant embassies directly in regards to visa requirements as the information listed is only applicable for U.S passport holders.

The safety of our travelers is our priority. Affordable World closely monitors all world events and will not send travelers to a country with unsafe traveling conditions. In the case, the border is closed or U.S. citizens are not allowed to enter a country, Affordable World will either cancel the trip, change the departure date, or reroute the itinerary to avoid the areas of concern. In the event of any changes or cancellations, we will notify you via email with all possible options.
While most hotels have a small fridge in the room, availability of refrigeration cannot always be guaranteed. Please be sure to advise Affordable World prior to your trip departure date if you are travelling with medication that requires refrigeration
Medical and vaccination requirements vary between countries and it is important you check with your doctor for the most up to date travel health information for the region you are visiting. Due to the length of the trip, it is advised you consult your doctor for existing medical/dental conditions before departure. Some of our tours require all travelers to be fully vaccinated to participate. Please click on the ‘Info’ tab on our home page – ‘Before Your Trip’ to view Covid-19 travel information. Additional travel documents, PCR tests, proof of full vaccination and other items may be required due to Covid-19. It is the responsibility of the traveler to check relevant travel advisories, requirements and/or restrictions for each part of the trip.
We suggest you bring a combination of cash and credit cards for your trip. Most department stores, hotels, and restaurants will accept major credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard however it is more convenient to use cash especially if you are planning to shop and eat in smaller shops. Each traveller is different and thus spending money requirements will vary from one individual to another. Please take into consideration your own spending habits when it comes to allocating for personal expenses such as food & beverage, shopping, optional activities, and tipping.
You may access your flight itinerary at any time by logging on to your My Affordable account and clicking on your trip confirmation ID number. Please note it may take up to 48 hours after your reservation has been received for your flight information to be displayed in your account.
Tickets are generally issued approximately 30 to 59 days prior to the trip departure date. However, select airline tickets may be issued within 24-48 hours of receiving your booking. You will receive an email from us when tickets are issued; ticket numbers will also be listed on your trip confirmation page.
Simply login to your My Affordable account and click on your trip confirmation ID to review your upcoming reservation and past reservations.
