The capital of the Sichuan Province, Chengdu, is a city rich in natural resources and a significant hub for politics and commerce within the region. It covers a total area of approximately 3 million acres and is home to 9.6 million residents.


With a history dating back 2400 years, the city enjoys a profound cultural and historical background. Some of its featured historic sites include ancient poet Dufu’s Cottage, the Giant Buddha at Mt. Leshan, and the Du Jiang Dam, an ancient irrigation system. But perhaps the most popular attraction is the Chengdu Panda Research Center. Home to the Giant Panda, one of China’s national treasures, this center focuses on wildlife conservation and education.


Chengdu is also home to Sichuan cuisine, which has earned an international reputation for its liberal use of spice and bold flavors.
