This was my first guided trip and it was amazing. Alice was our guide and not only was everything taken care of for us, check in, luggage, detailed itinerary, etc but Alice taught us so much about Thailand. We tried a ton of different foods and went on exciting excursions. Alice gave us inside info about how much was too much for certain things such as elephant pants, mango sticky rice, tuk tuk rides to certain places etc. So helpful! The elephant sanctuary add on is a must. Such an awesome experience. And our last free day on the trip we were on our own and she made great suggestions of things to do. We were so lucky to have her on this trip and we will definitely be booking with Affordablw World again.More Less
I just returned from Thailand Delights 10 day tour and I have to say this trip was the most fun and amazing trip I have taken in a long time. The itinerary was well planned in order to make the most of the time in Thailand. I suggest you book all the tours that are suggested they are worth the money and you will have an amazing time. The tour guide made the trip a blast and had us laughing the whole time. Kitty you are the best!! Kitty was very helpful in assisting us with suggestions for places to eat dinner and what areas provided safe drinking water for tourist. We felt well taken care of and she was always eager to assist us with anything she was able. I will be booking more tours with this company as they really put thought into getting the customer the most for their money. :) :) :)More Less
Hi.. I am very excited .. and looking forward to this trip in December.. Would anyone recommend upgrading the hotel package? The lagoon view resort is so tempting.. For 2 adults and 2 little kids, it would come up to more than $800 extra.. Also, for optional tours, do they charge for 3 and 5 years old?More Less
My daughter and I just returned from Thailand. We left JFK on 4/10 and returned on 4/20. The only bad thing I can say is China Air. The food was the same every meal and really not that good. Their lack of organization was apparent from check-in at JFK, to the lack of communication in Beijing that our luggage would not be waiting for us when we landed in Bangkok at 2:00 AM. Please Affordable World..use a different airline and also can you expand the airports we depart from. The TRIP. Our guide "Oh" was outstanding. Kind and very knowledgeable. She went above and beyond helping our group. From extended check outs, help with having our clothes laundered, booking other excursions for us and going out with us during her free time. Trip of a lifetime!!!!! What an awesome experience and so happy to experience it with my Daughter!!More Less
My husband and I booked the Thailand delight trip and it was absolutely wonderful. I have nothing but amazing things to say about Thailand and affordable world. I loved not having to think about anything and just following the group itinerary. Our tour guide "Oh" went above and beyond to make it an exceptional trip for everyone. She was very knowledgeable, took us to all the amazing places and offered suggestions and helped us find transportation whenever we wanted to go somewhere in our free afternoons. I highly recommend this trip!!!!! Believe me, it was a great value.More Less
My friend and I booked a tour through this company to visit Thailand (the Bangkok and Phuket tour). With the prices being so cheap we weren't really sure what to expect but Affordable World delivered and some! Our tour guide Patti was absolutely amazing. She was so personable and accommodating to everyone's needs. I can't imagine the trip without her. Do yourself a favor and go ahead and book your vacation with this company. I can't wait for them to add more destinations.More Less
We would highly recommend changing your return flight from Phuket to Beijing to JFK. We had a 1 hour layover in Beijing to go thru customs and get to our next flight. Other than that the tour guide was great if you like that sort of thing, Very helpful, we just rather do things on our own. Although, we must say the tour guide was fantastic for those who used him.More Less
Our 12 year old came with us on this trip. He had just a good time as we did. Our tour guide Patti was unbelievably kind and went out of her way to accommodate everyone on the trip. Our tour had 82 people! I wasent expecting such a large crowd, 3 bus fulls! the food and restaurants we went to were all good. my favorite by far was the Felix at the river Kwia. Make sure to check out the pool while your there, its paradise in the jungle! i prepared myself for the trip by reading tons of "what to wear in thailand"... as a woman, bring as many maxi dresses as you can. All the temples require either long pants or a dress that goes past your knees. Its HOT and MUGGY in thailand... make sure to bring a scarf to wrap around your arms and shoulders as you must be covered to get in the temples... but as soon as you leave you can remove it. Most of the men either wore slacks and tee shirts or longer cargo shorts and t shirts.... all my dresses were tank top style... if you go in the summer you will want to stay as cool as possible ( we went in june). Anyway, this is a fabulous trip for the money. You SHOULD GO!More Less
We just came back from Thailand! We had an awesome tour guide; her name is Wanna! She is so sweet and caring and truly made everyone feel like family. We loved how we had options to add additional tours or roam free on your own. If we had any questions at all Wanna was so helpful in helping and organizing special outings in case we didn't know how to get from place to place. Booking with Affordable World truly made everything more enjoyable especially since all you have to do is show up! We went in March and it was really hot. So bring your sunscreen!! The tour had everything from visiting the beautiful temples to laying out on the beach! Something for everyone!!!Enjoy your Thailand adventure and don't be afraid to ask your tour guide for any additional help or information!More Less
My daughter and I booked this trip through Groupon - it was an incredible experience, by far the best tour we have done in our lives. The itinerary was meticulously put together, packed full of a variety of activities for all ages. Our guides, PA and Ken - were absolutely fantastic. They made the whole trip exceptional. They were caring, thoughtful and always on time. They went out of their way to make this trip special. If we showed interest in some activity that was not part of the program, they would arrange it promptly for us, escort us there and make it so enjoyable. I did a European Tour last year and it does not compare at all with this tour - from the itinerary to the guides - Affordable World did it amazingly. Have highly recommended it to all my friends and colleagues and already planning another with Affordable World.More Less
I was so skeptical buying a Groupon for this trip, I thought there was for sure a catch. I couldn't believe the amazing price! Myself, spouse, and 4 friends took this trip a couple of weeks ago and it was nothing short of fabulous. We had perfect accommodations and tour guides. I highly recommend as many excursions as possible as they are done so well and are very well organized. It is so nice to have everyone on the tour staying at the same place and there is no stress getting yourself to and from the site the excursion is leaving from as they come to your hotel. Thailand has always been my favorite place and this is the way to do it. Will be booking another trip when we go back to Asia.More Less
Thank you Affordable World!! I Had the awesomest trip!! Got to see many temples, great activities, amazing food ! Great hotels. Weather is humid but worth it ! The biggest reason why it was so great it's because our tour guide "sharky", without him it wouldve just been just a good trip , not an amazing one ! He was knowledgeable, always servicing us, making sure we had everything we needed, going above and beyond, but overall super entertaining ,fun and funny guy!!! I never laughed so hard in a trip. He had us cracking up laughing out loud every single time !!! Trips in the bus were super entertaining thanks to Sharky ,with jokes and history on Thai culture.. Very nice and super humble man. Everyone in my group tour was so pleased with Sharky! I know that because we talked among ourselves how great he was, and wished we see him again in the near future. Best tour guide ever! If you take the Thailand trip and get sharky you'll be more than pleased with the whole experience!! Thank you Affordable World for an amazing program and for hiring the best tour guide !!!.More Less
It's given, this trip was AMAZING!!!!! We also are one of those skeptics and doubtful about this trip. We headed anyway because of how affordable the whole package was. It wasn't a boring trip, I swear! I mean I thought a week might not be enough to fully enjoy Thailand but with their itinerary it was actually just perfect! Everyday, there's so much for you to see and do until your last day. They will also give you your own leisure time to buy stuffs for your self. Everything about this trip are very ORGANIZED!! Not to mentioned our own loving tour guide "P NOI " was AMAZING! She's like a family to us, she's very informative, sweet, smart, caring, helpful, funny, funny and did I say funny? Besides our mother "P NOI ", we met our fellow "siblings" (the rest of the tourist gang). We all were super blessed to have the group that we had. Knowing that we are all new to the country, everyone watch and cares for each other. It literally felt like a new family. No one was left out. Anyways, about the trip, like I said, it was amazing, just relax and absorb every thing that they'll present to you, you'll be fine and they will take care of you from head to toe. I suggest to get those extra leisure with dinners, they're all fun! Like the rafting and riding an elephant or the cruise and then you get to feed hundreds and hundreds of koi fishes and of course that guppy fish spa!!!! It's also pretty hot in there obviously, so I highly suggest bring a hat or umbrella or a mini fan if you are very sensitive to heat and sunblock, sunblock and sunblock!!! You'll need it to that private beach they took us. Clean, clear and warm water. If you watch carefully, you'll find yourself swimming with numerous small fishes, it was cool. Well this review is getting long, I must say just go and you won't regret it. Hopefully your tour guide will be P NOI, because she's the most AMAZING TOUR GUIDE EVER!!! -Cathy of Los AngelesMore Less
I recently went on the Thailand Delight trip. From head to toe, I'd say it was outstanding! We took EVA Airlines out of LAX, which proved to be the best flying experience I have ever had. On time, courteous, efficient. Our tour guide, Sharkey, was terrific. Not only was he a wealth of knowledge and detail-oriented, keeping us all organized, he was a lot of fun, a wonderful front-line representative of Thailand to the rest of the world. All of the hotels were excellent. Overall, an unbelievable value for the price. My only concern involves the elephant trekking option. These days, many people feel elephant trekking is inhumane and cruel to the elephants. I personally arranged to take a private taxi from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi, a 3.5 hour trip, to spend the night in a hut at an elephant sanctuary, where I could care for the elephants, hike with them, bathe them in the river, feed them - no rides, no tricks -- and that turns out to the be highlight of my trip! Such an amazing experience. Can't wait to go back to visit Chiang Mai and Phuket!More Less
My sister and I loved our trip to Thailand it was an amazing experience. The hotels were amazing, our tour lady her name is Noi she was exceptional made us feel welcome in her home country. Thai people are the happiest people on earth. the tours and the optional tours were great. My favorite one was the Elephant riding and the bamboo rafting. Overall it was a great experience. I would most certainly take another tour! Thank you Affordable World.More Less
I went on this tour with my daughter who is determined to visit each continent - this was her 5th! We absolutely loved it. Each day we'd look at each other and ask "is this really, real?" And, each day, we'd think nothing could surpass the day before. But, it always did.The palaces, Buddhas, ruins, temples, and elephants were awesome. I felt like we definitely saw highlights of Thailand on this tour. Our tour director was Poy and she was totally wonderful. She went from a 10 day tour group before us to our group to one after without a day off in between. But she was always full of energy and information. She was good at keeping us together and on time. a couple of times, because of traffic and the Songkrat festival, we had to make adjustments in our itinerary and she had contacts in each city with whom to make those adjustments. If you get Poy as a tour guide you will be very fortunate! The hotels were all very nice and the service impeccable. I have to admit that I was a little turned off to find mold in the shower of our first hotel [and all of them after] but it only took a day or two to realize that, with all the heat and humidity in Thailand, it was almost impossible to keep mold away. The heat was INTENSE! Of course we happened to be there in April which is summer in Thailand. It got to 112 degrees Fahrenheit plus humidity. Thank goodness there was a 7-11 on every block that constantly re-stocked water bottles. One thing Poy told us to watch for was Lady Boys. I didn't quite get why until we saw them everywhere - as clerks, servers, drivers and performers. As the name implies, they are men dressed as ladies. This is accepted in Thailand. It didn't bother us - only surprised us at first. So we were glad to be told about them upfront or it might have been a little shocking. I recommend getting small denominations of Thai Baht because there is a lot of tipping involved in the trip [100 TB per day to the driver, 20TB for porters, Taxi tips and fares] It is also anywhere from 10-30TB for water bottles - which you will purchase frequently. The only city we weren't real impressed with - but still liked - was Pattaya. The optional tours didn't interest us but it was easy to find one that did through Viator/Trip Advisor. We flew over and back from LA on EVA air which was the absolute best flying experience I've ever had - and I travel often. I felt like I was in first class even though we flew economy. The inflight meals were filling and healthy. The entertainment options were numerous. Overall it is one of the best trips I've taken and definitely an incredible experience. I'm so glad we did it!!!More Less
Me and my wife selected this tour just browsing through Groupon offers. We were looking for Honeymoon destinations and wanted something different from the typical sit on the pretty beach for 4 days and drink type place! We came across this tour and decided this was perfect. It was our first time making such a large purchase through groupon so we didn't know what to expect but remained optimistic and it definitely lived up to the expectations and even surpassed them! Our tour guide O (short for Ott) was the cutest and most patient person ever. She was very knowledgable and compassionate, her ability to recite the actual name of Bangkok in their native language which has like 144 letters (don't quote me) was quite impressive as well. You learn quickly that most people in Thailand are extremely patient and genuine people. "City of Smiles" is what Bangkok is known as because even when they're agitated or upset, they smile! The food was amazing and ridiculously cheap, my wife and I had meals, drinks and desserts for both of us for $8 on multiple occasions. Amazing! You eat rice and noodles everyday but trust me you won't grow tired of it because it's delicious every single time! The street carts are the best, my Pad Thai was heavenly. The palaces and temples were breath-taking and to meditate in them among the locals was a very memorable experience. The hotels were nice but the nicest was in Bangkok, we upgraded to the deluxe suite and did not want to move. It seemed like the ability to speak English was a requirement at this hotel because everyone there did. The other hotels in other cities weren't like this. We were there during the Thai New Year celebration which is a nationwide water fight! It was cool being that it was scorching hot everyday so to get drenched with water everywhere you walked was refreshing. The excursions were a blast and the elephant ride was super fun, along with a swim in the river during bamboo rafting. The entire experience was enjoyable and memorable to say the least & I would recommend this to anyone considering. Most importantly, if you choose not to do whats on the itinerary for the day it is totally fine, you can do your own thing. If you're considering, don't pass up on this trip. It was amazing.More Less
My husband and I had a very good experience with Affordable World. Our guide, Noi, was very knowledgeable and helpful. Because I had researched weather, etc., I knew what to expect. It was hot and humid, but not much different from South Texas in August. Be prepared for quite a few temple tours, which require women to wear either knee length skirts or long pants and covered shoulders. The tour of the Summer Palace does not allow a shawl/scarf over a sleeveless blouse. A blouse with sleeves is required. If you forget a wrap or long skirt, there will be a variety of vendors on the way selling these items. They usually run 300 baht. Not bad, but utilize bargaining skills! Noi was very organized in transporting us from one hotel to the other during our stay. If you go with an open mind and prepared for any experience, you'll enjoy a trip of a lifetime! Unfortunately, a few in our group opted to criticize and complain rather than just enjoy what was presented. I would most certainly take another tour!More Less
My boyfriend and I went on this trip March 30 - April 9th 2016 and we had a blast! This was my second time on an escorted tour, and this was my boyfriends first. Affordable World made this trip very easy to understand and took out all the guess work. Our tour guide, Ten, was the absolute best tour guide I've ever had. She was friendly, caring, and could any any and all questions. She even gave you her info in case you had a question/problem in the middle of the night you could contact her. We signed up for most of the optional tours (except the two boat rides), but ended up not doing the The Landmark of Bangkok Tour with Boat Ride and Coral Island Tour with Seafood Lunch. Instead we traveled to the Dusit Zoo in Bangkok and explored around both Bangkok and Pattaya with ease. The hotels were nice. The beds are hard as a rock, and if you have back problems I recommend getting a thai massage to help loosen yourself up. If you're going to go during the hot season do yourself a favor and don't pack pants. You'll be dripping sweat (even if you're a fit person). We took two suit cases each which was too much. Don't pack a lot of clothes, just the essentials really. You can get some great deals on clothes there. Don't forget sunscreen, a camera or two, and sunglasses. You can purchase a hat there. The food was delicious (don't be afraid to try the street food), drinks were cheap, and most souvenirs are worth it. We will be booking a few more trips from Affordable World in the future, and hope to get another tour guide like Ten in another country. She really was the best!More Less
My husband and I just returned from the Thailand Delight tour (11 days, 8 nights) on April 2. I would have given this tour five stars except for the dismal way it ended. First of all, I want to say that our guide, Audi, was fantastic! He is the best tour guide I have ever seen. He put his all into making our trip memorable and clearly demonstrated that he loves his job! My complaint is that on the last day in Bangkok, Friday, April 1, we had to check out of our hotel at 12 noon (we later found out that we could have requested a later check-out time but no one told us that in time). We then had nine hours to kill until 9:00 PM when we were taken to the airport for our flight which left Bangkok at 1:00 AM. Arriving in Beijing at 6:30 AM, we then had to wait until 3:40 PM for our final flight to San Francisco (11 1/2 hours flying time)! So, all in all, we had 15 hours, 40 minutes, waiting to leave. This is unacceptable. I checked the other travel dates for this tour departing from San Francisco and all the times are the same. I am really surprised that no one else has complained about this. We had a wonderful time during the tour, but the ending sufficiently negated that!More Less
Panda was by far the best guide. She was hilarious. She really went out of her way to help. You could tell she actually cared. The first excursion. Thai dinner show and dance with night market. This was the worst part of the trip the food was awful and bland the show was poorly performed. they just walked around taking selfies with everyone. The night market however is awesome. Just get a tuk tuk and tell them to take you to asiatique. Guided boat tour in bangkok- nice but the boat part was too short they take you to too many places. Grand palace is a must see but just get a taxi after lunch.Cant take pictures at the Parliament building and it is not very interesting. By that point your tired and HOT. Starts to feel like school children being herded around on a field trip. If I could do it over again I would tour the grand palace on my own and check trip advisory for a boat ride to go on. probably cheaper too. Elephants- absolutely the best part of the trip. Its not just a 15min trek in a circle. the guides get off and let you ride up front. they will take pics with your own personal camera for you. Bring a lot of bananas! Rice barge dinner- good food and a nice boat ride. But there is karaoke and they dont take no for an answer so be prepared for that. Cabaret show- Lady boys were gorgeous and definitely worth saying you've seen them. The costumes, sets, music, and lighting is like something off Broadway. Dancing part leaves something to be desired. If you want a pic with them be prepared to cough up 100 baht. Missed the last dinner cruise back in Bangkok but I heard it was amazing. Must try the Silom cooking school in Bangkok. Get one of your guides to hook you up with classes. It was the best food we had the entire trip and a lot of fun. Also Ladies should always carry a sarong or cotton skirt that is easy to pull on. Half of the temples require skirts and long pants are not acceptable. If you are heavier set it may be harder to find a sarong when you get there. All that being said it was a wonderful trip. I got to see things most ppl will never in their life times. I could have stayed another week. Loved every second of it.More Less
All girls trip and it was wonderful our tour guide Panda was excellent she called us 4 in 1 and was informative about Thailand history and culture and the attractions we went too. We stayed at the Pullman G in Bangkok and it was a wonderful 5 start hotel in the center of the city. We fly Eva air which was a wonderful flight also. Everything was smooth and coordinated from start to finish. I would recommended this trip to anyway. Thanks so much Panda and Affordable World for showing these 4 ladies a wonderful time in Thailand.More Less
Just came back from the trip the 12th of March. I went with a friend of mine and had an amazing time. Our guide was Audi. He was awesome. So helpful and knowledgeable. If there was anything you wanted to do on your free time and had questions on how to get there and how much you should be paying he was on point. I didn't do all the excursions but a majority of them. They were worth it my favorites were the elephant camp and coral island. I'd definitely recommend this trip and would use them again for sure!More Less
This trip was fantastic!! It was our first trip to Thailand and we had a great time. The Affordable World tour was very well done and took all of the stress out of traveling in a country where you don't know your way around or speak the language. The hotels, food, tours and buses were all very good. It was our tour guide Ten however that made the trip so enjoyable. She was so fun, upbeat and genuinely concerned about all of us having a great experience. She worked so hard to cater to the needs of our group and many, many times went far and above the duties of a tour guide. I would recommend Affordable World tours to everyone and if you are very, very lucky you too will have Ten as your guide.More Less
This trip rocked. When making such a big purchase on Groupon you're not sure what to expect but I made a good choice. I had so much fun. It's hard to describe. But we were busy from beginning to end. Of course the shining star of the tour was our tour guide Audi! He was so awesome and so patient. We had a big group of 40 people, enough to fill the entire bus. The bus is really great, comfy, air-conditioned and ready to comfortably drive you five hours a day. I loved seeing the countryside by bus. Audi gave some great commentary. Most of all, he was very patient, trying to tend to the needs of 40 different people. My favorite part of bus trip time was watching Audi walk down the aisle, personally answering everyone's questions. Every other question was "what are we doing tomorrow?" or "what are we doing today?" when Audi had just told us that 5.5 seconds ago. But he answered everyone with the patience of a saint. I would trust everything your tour guide recommends. Audi told us to go to some really fun places. The only thing that we did that he "recommend not" was ride a motorbike taxi. I can understand why he doesn't recommend it but it was really fun so I personally think you should do it but I'm not liable for anything bad happening though! Thailand is really fun. I don't think I experienced any overwhelming culture shock except that it is beautiful. Yes, this visit doesn't take you to the beaches of Phuket but Pattaya is pretty too. There's also a lot of other surprises in Pattaya! I won't spoil it. It's a city of contrasts for sure. I enjoyed everything we did. The optional tours I purchased (elephant show, coral island, pattaya by night) were all perfect and you should definitely do those for sure. The other ones you can probably skip. You can do a lot of excursions on your own. Your tour guide will probably help you. Audi helped us get to the Grand Palace and he helped us use the subway and the sky train so we got to experience some of the local ways of getting around. Beware of gangsters and scammers! Your tour guide will tell you how much it should cost to get places. Ask first and then negotiate with your drivers for a fair price. Do not talk to people who come up to you and start saying stuff. They tried to tell us the Grand Palace was closed, that we buy our tickets at a portapotty and that the tickets were free after three. NOOOOO!!!! I never felt particularly unsafe in Thailand, just annoyed when people are trying to tell you things that aren't true just so they can get some money. Shopping is so FUN! Do a lot of it. Bring a lot of money. I know Thailand is cheap but you will fall in love with the shopping and then 200 Baht, 200 Baht, 200 Baht, 200 Baht turns into all your money. So be prepared for that. Bring an empty suitcase. It will be full when you come back. Massages are fun too. Try to learn some Thai. A lot of people don't speak English so get ready for crazy gestures and hijinks! But take it in stride. Thailand has a motto of Hakuna Matata or something so don't get /too/ mad. Just a little mad if it's justified. Don't be surprised when the people at the front desks of the hotel can't speak English! This isn't for people who don't like to ride buses. But I love it and you can see so much. The scenery is like a movie. It looks like Jurassic Park! Our bus driver Mr. Chai was awesome too, he didn't talk but he drove and he made sure cars didn't run us over when we crossed the street because traffic is crazy. So he's awesome for that! All of the hotels were beautiful, especially the one in Pattaya because it was right on the beach! The one in Bangkok made me feel like royalty. Also, it had the best bed which is good because you sleep there the most. We stayed at the Pullman Hotel G. It was so cool. Pro-tip: Washclothes are called "small towel". Another tip, when you are in Thailand make sure you always have tissues and hand santizer on you. Toilet paper and soap in the bathrooms are not a given. But you get used to it. All in all, this trip was a dream come true. Thank you Audi for a wonderful week! I'll definitely try another try with Affordable World, maybe next time to Japan!More Less
Normally we like to plan our trips by ourselves, however for this trip we decided to purchase the Thailand package thru Groupon and that was a great decision. Between the beautiful hotels, the great tours (included and optionals) and our tour guide Nop, we enjoy every moment of this trip. We will definitely consider Affordable World for future vacations.More Less
My husband and I purchased the tour to Thailand via groupon. It's not our first time using groupon to plan a trip and this one tops it all. Our tour guide Panada was knowledgeable, funny and pleasant. We have no complaints about any parts of the trip. All the hotels were 5 star and the food was really good (mostly buffet). I'm a vegan and I found more than enough options to eat. We also purchased excursions for the elephant two and shows which was a phenomenal experience. I'm glad we had the option of not attending the tiger show because after reading reviews I wasn't too interested in seeing the show. Though this tour was guided it's still allowed free time for us to experience the local areas. It's fairly easy to get around in Bangkok. The train, skytrain, tuk-tuk or cabs can be used for transportation. Just be sure to negotiate the price before entering a tuk-tuk or taxi. There are also many street markets where you can find various native foods, clothes and items. It was a bit difficult to find souvenirs that had the word Thailand on it but I was still able to find a few. The other tour guides, Tan and Pattie were also great. I would recommend this trip to anyone. It was worth every penny and exceeded our expectations. I would definitely use Affordable World again for future trips to Asia.More Less
So after reading a few of these reviews, the are all spot on. This trip was absolutely amazing. The company ensured that the logistics of it all (which is a fair good amount) went very smooth. The tour guides are nothing but friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. Most importantly, they take care of their clients (all short of getting in trouble with the law). Nop was my guide in Bangkok while Kitty was my guide in Ko Samui. I can say these two are amongst the best out there. Not only did my tour guide provide me service while I was on the trip, but Kitty also went the extra mile and provided me tips and assistance when I extended my trip. From the accommodations,to the sights, to the knowledgeable guides, this trip was first class. The only issue, if I had to choose one, was the airline (Air China) that we traveled on. Not horrible, but the airline itself is not geared toward customer satisfaction nor service. Coming from a true skeptic, I definitely recommend this trip and this company. If you get Kitty or Nop as your guide, you are very lucky.More Less
This trip was fabulous! This was my first trip to Thailand and it couldn't have been better. Patti, our guide, was amazing! She made us feel like we were part of her extended family. She went above and beyond her tour guide duties. I would not hesitate for a moment to take another tour with Affordable World!More Less
I loved all of the hotels but Centara Grand definitely is in a category all its own it was AMAZING! Patti our tour guide made this trip the best it could be for all of us. She was able to think on her feet and handle 20+ people with everyone's needs being taken care of, a great tour guide is what really makes these types of trips worth it.More Less
We enjoy the holiday package for Thailand... Will definitely consider going back again. We really loved our Tour Guide Audi. He deserves to be commended -- we have gone on many international tours and by far Audi is excellent and the main reason why we would go back to Thailand again. We felt the trip was too short and would consider extending our stay next time. The events and optional packages our excellent and worth the money. Take the tour you will not regret it especially if your fortunate enough to get Audi as your tour guide. He made us feel safe, taken care of and was so approachable and knowledgeable.More Less
The experience I had with this tour was amazing, could not have asked for more. It was perfectly planned and truly gave us a little bit of everything. Our tour guide Audi was exceptional. Everyone has nothing but praises for him throughout the trip. As a solo female traveler I truly felt safe and looked after by him. I would recommend Affordable World to anyone and I hope to travel with you all again.More Less
The accommodations were phenomenal the customer service in the treatment was even better. our tour guide Audi was one of the best tour guides I have ever encountered wherever I have traveled. His knowledge and his humbleness was just wonderful. if anyone were to ever wonder should they go through Affordable World they should because you will never regret it . I definitely will use them againMore Less
The guides Kitty and Ten were more than excellent! They went out of their way to make our tour relaxed, fun, and safe. They were very attentive to our needs. The dinner cruise meals were not that good, however the seafood lunch at Coral Island was VERY good. Food was fresh and well prepare...the chicken was the best!More Less
Our tour guide, Kitty, was awesome - she made the trip fun, entertained us on the bus, taught us interesting facts about Thai culture and language, and went far beyond the call of duty in arranging services, recommending local shops and eateries, helped translate with vendors and continued to serve as a guide and friend when the group decided to do things outside of the tour, like Walking Street and Khaosan Rd. She made this trip spectacular.More Less
The tour guide went out of her way to ensure that our vacation was perfect. She arranged a van for 5 of us to bypass the ancient tour and stay at the River Kwai Resort for an additional 5 hours then go to the next hotel. For some of us it was a perfect day relaxing on the river and enjoying the resort.More Less
We had a blast touring Bangkok, Kanchanaburi, Ayutthaya and Pattaya. We extremely enjoyed the food, sights, people and most of all history that Thailand has to offer. We wish we could have stayed longer and explored the parts such as Phuket, Kraby, Chang Rai, Chang Mai etc...There is so much to see and experience that it never gets old. Some of the hotels were excellent such as The Cenrtara in Bankok, Felix River Kwai and Long Beach Garden in Pattaya. However one hotel such as Krungsri River Hotel did not meet our expectation. Our tour guide was awesome and enjoyed her company. She took great care of us. This is an excellent value package and highly receommneded. We will never forget the Thai massage, elephant ride, river rafting, all the temples, palaces and Buddhas. Some of our suggestions are to include portrage fees, tips, water bottles in the bus, maps and souvenirs. We wish we were offered to extend our trip to Phukket and other areas which would be great. THe "theme park dark ride" and "tailor" stops have to go....More Less
I loved this trip! The booking and pre-trip planning were easy and the entire trip exceeded my expectations. Our guide, Audi, was excellent, taking good care of us all and helping us understand and appreciate this wonderful country. The hotels were outstanding, the motor coach brand new, and the attractions were well chosen and interesting. The tour had great variety, from beautiful temples to relaxing beaches. The Thai culture is very interesting and the Thai people are wonderful. The schedule was full but allowing time to get out and explore. On the final day, we enjoyed the Jim Thompson House, an easy train ride and a venue I would recommend. This was a trip of a lifetime!More Less
I can not begin to describe how wonderful this trip was. In the last 3 years we have been fortunate enough to be able to visit many other destinations such as Dubai, Fiji, Russia, the Caribbean and a few more but all of those compared can not stand up to this trip. From the moment that we booked this trip everything was pure perfection. I did not need to talk to anybody over the phone all my booking was done online and it was a breeze. We flew Air China from LAX to Beijing then to Thailand. From the moment I got through customs in Thailand we were well taken care of. We were met by a very energetic and friendly man named Audi(tour guide). We were transferred to our first hotel in a beautiful huge motor-coach. The hotel was beyond expectations and every other one got better and better. We have so many included free extras in this deal that we do not have to literally book anything extra if we do not want to. Audi was excellent and told us everything we needed and wanted to know about his beautiful country. This tour had everything for everybody. Each of places that the we stayed in had something different and new to experience. We have never felt safer in a foreign country as we did here. Don't be afraid to venture out of your hotel to explore the surroundings. Mingle with the locals, try there local street fair and just let your self go on this tour. I definitely feel as if that we got a lot more than we payed for. The hotels alone should have been more than the whole trip cost. Thank you so much Affordable Asia for making this trip once in a lifetime experience. By the way if you do have a layover in Beijing coming back as we did for seven hours not hesitate to go out and visit the Great Wall. We did and we had a great time.More Less
My boyfriend and I took this trip for my 29th birthday this year. I wasn't sure what to expect, as we booked it through Groupon and I hadn't done a tour group vacation before. It definitely exceeded our expectations!! We had a great group of 19 people and our tour guide Audi was amazing. He was very funny and knowledgeable about anything we asked him. He was extremely helpful with any extra activities we wanted to do besides what was included in our tour/excursions and went above and beyond to make suggestions as to what type of transportation to take, things we may want to try, and also what not to do in terms of not dis-respecting the Thai people. We loved all of the excursions except for the Tiger Zoo. I'm not a fan of zoos in general and the tigers looked very thin and the elephants were prodded with the hooks. Our entire group ended up leaving early. What I would suggest to do in place of the Tiger Zoo is the Tiger Temple, which is north of Kanchanaburi. We opted out of the speedboat ride and the Grand Palace in Bangkok and instead took a tour that included transportation, lunch, an additional elephant ride, and a 3 hour stop at the Tiger Temple, where we got to get up close and personal with several adult tigers, play with 6 tiger cubs for 45 minutes and bottle feed them, shampoo and bathe year old tigers and then get into their water enclosure with them and play with long bamboo sticks with trashbags and water bottles tied to the end that they jumped around and "attacked." Definitely so much better than the Tiger Zoo, we spent about $160 a person American for the trip, took over 200 photos each, and had a once in a lifetime experience with the tigers. Overall, the other excursions were amazing. The temples were beautiful, the beaches were gorgeous, and our hotels were extremely comfortable. I loved the elephant ride and the bamboo rafting trip, which was a welcome ending to a very hot day. We also opted to book a trip to Phuket for our last free day in Bangkok. Airfare was reasonable on AirAsia- we left Bangkok in the evening, got to our hotel in Patong around 11 and had time to explore Bangla Street (which was similar to walking street in Pattaya) before heading to bed. We spent the next day on the beaches of Patong. I wish we had thought to book a boat trip ahead of time to Phi Phi and James Bond Island, but the Phuket addition was worth it and checked off my last "must see" in Thailand. One last suggestion for the way back- if you have a long layover (6+ hours) in Beijing, I would suggest booking a van/taxi and leaving the airport to see the Great Wall. One couple in our group did that on the way to Bangkok, and the rest of us ended up doing the same thing on our layover on the way back to the states. We took a short tour of a jade factory before spending about an hour at the Great Wall for about $50 a person. Definitely squeeze it in if you can. Overall, we were extremely satisfied with Audi and the entire tour from Affordable World. We would absolutely do it again!More Less
We went in January; weather was outstanding! AIR CARRIER: Air China isn't my favorite airline of choice. The flight attendants forced us to shut our window shades without explanation; on a day flight. Flight attendants would rudely move your seat up, while you're sleeping, so that the passenger behind you can deploy their tray to eat. I understand this has little to do with Affordable World; however, I believe a different air carrier would be a wise investment. GUIDES: Audi and Patty were amazing! They were so proud to welcome us and be representatives of Thailand. They would literally answer any questions my wife and I had, anytime of the day or night. They made us feel like very welcomed guests in their home nation. Guides don't get much more personal than this. HOTELS: Centara Grand was our favorite for it's modern design and features. Resort restaurants were outstanding and the staff were ridiculously friendly and genuine. Located conveniently next to a huge mall, chatuchak park, and the famous JJ Market...all within walking or subway distance. Felix River Kwai Resort was nice, located in the beautiful countryside along the river Kwai; again, fabulous resort dining. Only negatives with the remaining resorts is they have no hot water until around 7-8am. All the complementary dining at the resorts were great, but the breakfasts were the best; Thai people know how to do breakfast right! SIGHTS: Buddhist temples were breathtaking and the history was amazing. Temples are magnificent and allow you to really experience their Buddhist culture. River Kwai rafting, elephant riding, death train ride was all an absolute blast! PEOPLE: The Thai people will change your outlook on life, sympathy, and compassion for others. These people are generous, humble, and seek peace above all else. -Overall, I would highly recommend this tour.More Less
River Kwai: Elephant trekking & bamboo rafting with dinner. More Less
We just returned from a fabulous trip to Thailand. Even with the political problems, we never saw any evidence of it. We felt safe and had wonderful tour guides. The hotels were beyond what we expected. The food was fabulous and the sightseeing was wonderful. Really enjoyed the elephant ride and boat and canal tour of Bangkok. Would love to do another tour with Affordable World. Would love to go to Vietnam if they go there !More Less
My wife and I just came back from Thailand in May, we did the Thailand Delight 11 days and 8 nights. It was fabulous, The price that Affordable World provides is really good and the experience was wonderful, all the Hotels were really comfortable and the staff was willing to help you with any of your needs. Our tour guide Ms. Pat(Panada Pakdeepuwadon)was really knowledgeable, she would go out of her way to help us with anything. Our group was small, we were 5 and that was a plus we got to enjoy all the temples and places the tour had to offer and at the end of the day still make it to the hotel with plenty of time to enjoy the pools and the other hotel amenities. The weather was always nice, hot, but nice. We even went to a flea market that was close to our first hotel on our own and and had a great time. The people make you feel very comfortable and safe, there are a lot of American tourist so you have nothing to worry about. The vendors don't harass you, they simply ask you if you need help and if you say no they leave you alone. Over all it was a great experience, we have been to China, Egypt, Europe, and I have to say that Thailand was one of our favorite ones, because we combined a little bit of every other vacation: we got sight seeing without any rush, shopping and relax time all together and for a very good price. Over all I would recommend Affordable World, great price, great vacation, very relax, very safe, my only regret is that like every other American I had to come back to work and couldn't stay longer.More Less
