Coronavirus update

Office closure effective March 16 (update March 23, 2020)

Dear Clients,

Beginning March 16th our offices will be closed until April 19 in an effort to do our part to stop the community spread of COVID19 and ensure the health and safety of our employees. Please contact us via Live Chat (during regular business hours) on our website or via our contact us form.

To allow our reservations team to focus on customers with immediate needs, we are asking those who do not have active reservations within the next 7 days to wait until closer to your trip before contacting us.

We understand how frustrating this can be; please know we are working to support all our customers. We appreciate your patience and support of our small business during these challenging times.

Provisional Payment, Cancellation and Departure Date Change Fee Policies (update March 16, 2020)

Dear Clients,

Every day brings new developments related to COVID-19 and we understand how stressful this uncertainty can be. With that in mind, we would like to assure you that the safety and well-being of our guests remain our top priority.

We are continually monitoring State Department guidance concerning travel to any of the destinations we serve. We will ensure that guests are promptly updated should it become necessary for us to reroute or alter any of our itineraries.

We have introduced a number of health and hygiene protocols, including preventative measures, to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests in all parts of the world. As such we have asked all of our Tour Managers to take additional precautionary measures and remain vigilant at all times. For further information about COVID-19 including tips on prevention, please visit the U.S. Center for Disease Control's website, World Health Organization and International SOS. Additionally, a number of countries have issued travel restrictions for people traveling from or through countries other than China which have experienced an outbreak of the virus. Click here for the air travel industry’s current list, please note this is subject to frequent updates.

At Affordable World, we remain hopeful about the future and want you to feel the same way too. However, we understand that everyone will be at a different place when it comes to their upcoming travel plans. In light of the evolving situation regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Affordable World is implementing a provisional cancellation, departure date change and payment policy for all existing bookings, effective March 13, 2020. These new policies cannot be applied retrospectively, as the situation is rapidly evolving every day. Please be aware that many third-party supplier cancellation fees, such as but not limited to: airlines, ferries, hotels, attraction admission fees, local guides and restaurants are not providing refunds or cancellation waivers. Airline penalties typically range between $250 per person to fully non-refundable. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding in this matter and thank you in advance.

Affordable World Provisional Remaining Balance Payment Deadline:
Affordable World will extend the remaining balance payment due date to 45 days prior to the trip departure. Booking and airfare (if applicable) deposits at the time of booking remain unchanged.

Travel and Immigration Restrictions

Several countries have imposed travel and immigration restrictions due to COVID-19. All customers are requested to check relevant travel advisories to and from the countries to which they are travelling. This is a dynamic situation and it is the responsibility of the customer to ensure there are no entry restrictions at their travel destination. IATA Travel Centre provides a list of travel advisories relating to COVID-19 here. Affordable World is not responsible if you are denied entrance for any reason at any foreign country, even if you hold a valid passport and entry visa. Visa and entry requirements may change at any time.

Travel and Immigration Restrictions

Affordable World will continue to closely monitor this evolving situation and will provide updates as it pertains to each tour group.  We thank you for your continued trust in Affordable World and look forward to seeing you on our tours throughout the year.

We are experiencing high call volumes due to COVID-19.  If you are not travelling in the next 72 hours, please consider calling us at a later time.

UPDATE: US travel restrictions from Europe, March 11, 2020 7:40pm PST (update March 11, 2020)

Dear Clients,

Please see the following message from the Department of Homeland Security (release date: March 11, 2020):
“Today President Donald J. Trump signed a Presidential Proclamation, which suspends the entry of most foreign nationals who have been in certain European countries at any point during the 14 days prior to their scheduled arrival to the United States. These countries, known as the Schengen Area, include: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. This does not apply to legal permanent residents, (generally) immediate family members of U.S. citizens, and other individuals who are identified in the proclamation.”

At this current time we do not have further information regarding the status of your flights. We will be checking all government websites and coordinating with airlines and ground suppliers; we will keep you updated as soon as we have further information. If your tour return date falls within this timeframe please contact us if you would like to cancel your tour.

Due to the high volume of inquiries we are receiving at this time, we ask all guests to kindly refrain from calling and/or emailing us unless your departure date is within the next 7 days. Please understand that responses will take longer than normal and we will be prioritizing all incoming messages in the order of your departure date.
